A BRIEF HISTORY OF KATHERINE TOWING & SALVAGE, FORMALLY 'BERESFORDS'

1966

December began operating as Beresfords Repairs & Towing
1974    Cyclone Tracey.  Moved to 1130 Victoria Highway.  Built larger workshops.

1975

Bought the first and only tilt tray tow truck into the Northern Territory for about 5 years.

1976

Became Road Service Agent RACQ, RACV, NRMA, RAA, AANT, RACWA, RACT.

1998

Wiped out by the Australia Day floods.  2 metres water through workshop which destroyed the workshop, house and 4 tow trucks.  All gone.

1998

Changed business name to Katherine Crash Repairs – Katherine Towing & Salvage – Katherine Motors.

1998

Relinquished Agency for Road Service after 22 years.  Insurance claim was declined. No money.
Broke and with only a car and change of clothes to his name, Ken Beresford chose to concentrate on smash to rebuild.  Great demand for service.
2014    Approached by RAA South Australia to once again become their Road Service Provider.  Unfortunately had to decline as we need to extend our business to provide a Quality Service.  Once completed will contact Adelaide in the future to see if still interested for us to become a local agent again.
